Welcome back to another Local Builders Association Spotlight post!

Today we’ll focus on the Builders Association of the Twin Cities (BATC), who is one of the leading voices for builders and remodelers in the area.

We’ll break down what exactly BATC is, and how they can benefit home builders through their marketing, advocacy, and industry connections services.

Who is BATC?

In order to detail who exactly the BATC is and their main goals as an association, let’s first look at both their mission and vision statements.

BATC Mission

As the leading voice for builders and remodelers, we help our members build their businesses through marketing, advocacy, and industry connections

BATC Vision

To be as vital in government and politics as we are to Minnesota’s economy

BATC’s Story

In the late 1930s, a small group of builders got together and started up the BATC-Housing First Minnesota. After noticing a variance in quality and professionalism in the home construction industry, they created this association to try and increase the standards in the Twin Cities area.

Since then, the association has expanded to include builders, remodelers, subcontractors, suppliers, and other professionals who are involved in the building industry.

In order to become a part of the BATC, you must adhere to a code of ethics and all of their builders conform to Minimum Performace Standards for construction and business practices.

As previously mentioned, the association delivers benefits to their members through three key areas – marketing, advocacy, industry connections.

Marketing and BATC

Members of the BATC enjoy the luxury of being a part of an association that works hard to make sure that their homes and services are properly marketed in the Twin Cities area.

Through their consumer-directed marketing (Parade of Homes and Remodelers Showcase, Artisan home Tour), members can proudly show-off their completed work to increase their brand awareness by getting their homes in front of thousands of individuals.

In addition to its consumer marketing, BATC offers industry-directed marketing through the following outlets: Builders and Remodelers Show, The Digest, Housing Industry News, and a Membership Directory. These marketing avenues are a great way to reach qualified prospects to help you grow your business.

Last, BATC offers sponsorships, which are an effective way for builders to support for BATC-Housing First Minnesota while getting your message to the right audience. Their options for sponsorships include the low-cost tee sponsorships at their annual golf outing to elite packages custom designed for your budget and marketing goals.

Becoming a BATC Member

If you’re interested in becoming a BATC Member, there are a few things you should know beforehand. Whereas some builder associations have a basic membership for every member, BATC has different types and levels of memberships.

Here is a breakdown of the different kinds of memberships available for BATC:

Associate Membership – For any business related to the homebuilding industry providing products or services to builders, remodelers, or developers.

Developer Membership – For an individual, corporation, or other organization that acquires natural or unimproved land and improves it with utility connections, roads, earth grading, covenants, and entitlements for purposes of residential and commercial construction.

Realtor – For any active real estate professional with an active realtor license number. While any qualifying real estate agent may take advantage of this membership, we suggest that you have a vested interest in becoming involved (if you haven’t already) in the new home construction industry.

There are also the following ‘classes’ available for builders and remodelers:

Builder Class B

Remodeler Class B

Builder Class C

Remodeler Class C

License-Exempt Builder

All-in-all, BATC is a wonderful Minnesota builders association that does a great job of pushing the industry to be better in the quality of the work, as well as helping builders, remodelers, suppliers, and more get noticed by their ideal clients.
