Reclaimed Wood Paneling Sets The Stage On Lake Minnetonka
This recent project that we worked on with Zehnder Homes involved creating a rustic feel in a modern, lakeview luxury home. Shorewood, MN is no stranger to impressive builds, and this one is no exception sitting at the tip of Shady Island on Lake Minnetonka.
While a majority of the home is finished in a contemporary style with plenty of whites and grays, there was a different plan for the great room and bar. This cozy living space mixes a touch of history with the core design of the home by making great use of our reclaimed wood paneling.
Entering in from the adjoining kitchen, you are greeted with a mosaic of mixed browns, reds, and grays from our Weathered Antique reclaimed wood paneling that covers the vaulted ceiling. This mix of finely aged softwoods are chosen for their natural patina and old markings that allow for a truly unique splash of character.
The same reclaimed wood paneling is also present on the backsplash of the custom home bar that occupies the alcove behind the sitting area. The antique wood tones compliment the newly built cabinets and provide the perfect background for a convenient display of bottles.
Reclaimed wood timbers take a prominent role in the design of this room as well. Our weathered antique beams become hefty rafters amid the enchanting panels, lending a distinguished air to the room.
The grand stone fireplace along the outside wall is also enhanced by the presence of our timbers in the form of a reclaimed wood mantel. The floating beam breaks up the gray face of the surround and creates continuity with the rest of the room.
Overall, the use of reclaimed wood in this room allowed Zehnder Homes to craft an inviting space with a rustic chic aesthetic that feels right at home when looking out at the beautiful lake through the sliding glass doors.
A New Mid-Century Modern In Forest Lake
This sleek and unique home, built on the scenic Forest Lake, is another great showcase of Zehnder Homes’ ability and craftsmanship. The custom home is made in a mid-century modern style with simple but impactful lines and a minimalist design.
The exterior of this home boasts multiple skillion roof lines that create an eye-catching geometric pattern across its silhouette. Alternating gray and deep reddish-brown panels cover the sides of the home, contributing more stark angles and conflicting lines to the overall design.
On the inside, these Minnesota home builders continue the mid-century modern feel, making effective use of both contemporary whites and grays, as well as the richer tones of natural materials like wood and stone. Together, these elements create an earthy landscape to match the wonderful views of nature seen through the ample windows.
A Modern Luxury Home In Maple grove
This spacious and airy farmhouse style custom home is packed full of modern amenities and natural light. A contemporary palette with clean lines creates a consistent style across all floors of the house.
The main level of the home is centered on a brand new open concept kitchen, complete with a countertop range, in-wall double ovens, a five burner countertop range, and an expansive island. Connected is a bright dining nook, and a relaxing living room complete with a sleek gas fireplace and plenty of seating.
The walk out basement features a built-in home bar sideboard with sink, display shelves, and a full refrigerator. Slate gray subway tiles make an effective backsplash that creates a stark contrast with the white walls and light brown cabinets.
Our favorite room in this build is the indoor half basketball court that Zehnder built right into the ground floor of the custom home. Minnesota home builders know the importance of indoor recreation areas to get homeowners through the long winters, and this custom court was the perfect deliverance for this Maple Grove home.
