We’re back with another edition of Minnesota Builder to Know! This series is all about bringing to light builders that are using reclaimed wood products to take their homes to the next level.
This month we’re sharing Custom One Homes out of Woodbury, Minnesota. Custom One has been building custom homes in the Twin Cities since 1983 and has established a reputation for excellent work.
From their website: “At Custom One Homes, what sets us apart is simple, we aren’t afraid to take on a challenge. Our staff is passionate about solving design issues for our clients. From the initial conception to any hiccups along the way, we shoulder the stresses of building a home, shielding you and your investment.”
Let’s dive in and look at some of the homes that they’ve built!
1872 Annika North Drive – The Royal Club
This home is truly stunning. Every element inside and out is a sight to see! The house has four bedrooms, four bathrooms, and comes in at roughly 4,150 square feet of liveable space. The best part about it? It’s for sale as of this blog post in September 2020!
Interior Features
One of our favorite features on the inside is all the wood that’s used throughout the home. In order to keep a very modern and classy look, Custom One chose to use a dark stain throughout. This allows the wood to pop in a way that demands your attention. As you look through the gallery you’ll notice wood floors, exposed wood doors, cabinets, and even ceiling panels.
One feature that stands out, in particular, is the wood ceiling beams throughout the home. These beams are made from reclaimed wood. You can tell that there was special attention taken to pick out each one because they all match the other standard wood elements throughout the house. The character that these beams display is breathtaking, to say the least. Finally, there are two indoor fireplaces — one on the first floor and one on the lower level. Each of these fireplaces helps to add warmth to the home both literally and figuratively.
Rustic Modern on Woodlane
This extravagant home was built with all the bells and whistles and exemplifies how well Custom One can build homes. Right off the bat, you’re probably going to notice the full-size sports court and swimming pool complete with a slide. Additionally, there is some beautiful landscaping around the home.
Interior Features
One of the things that makes this home so unique and attractive is the open floor plan from the kitchen, dining area, and living room. The kitchen, which features two individual islands, has natural reclaimed wood beams across the ceiling. The white cabinets and countertops are offset by a natural stained pine floor and dark paint on the base of the second island. Just off the kitchen is a dining room and entertainment room so that you can enjoy the big game or a restful evening when dinner is finished.
This home offers some incredible golf course views with huge windows and an architecture built to show off wherever it can. The master bathroom is complete with a rain shower and glass doors so that you feel like you’re walking into a spa. Custom One Homes definitely went all out with this property.
Farmhouse on Glen Crest
If you like the farmhouse style, then you’ll love this property. The exterior of the property is laid out in a beautiful way with high peaks to the roof and big windows. The exterior is painted all white with natural wood finishes around the front entryway and the deck. The natural finished reclaimed wood offers a beautiful contrast to the white house and helps it to feel very inviting as you walk up to the front door.
The three-season porch is one of the highlights of the exterior. It features screened insides and a steel roof making it great to enjoy time with family and friends all year round. Behind the house, you’ll find a laid brick patio with a fireplace in the center making this house a hot spot for summer nights.
Interior Features
When you step inside you’ll be greeted by beautiful dark wood floors. The dark wood accents throughout the home make it feel warm and welcoming. There are reclaimed wood beams in the main room just off the entryway as you come in and a huge stone fireplace to enjoy. The three-season porch has pine walls and a pine ceiling giving it a cabin feel. The kitchen is complete with white countertops and white cabinets offset by a dark painted island base.
Upstairs you’ll find the master bedroom with a huge floor to ceiling window. The master bathroom is complete with a soaker tub and a beautiful tile shower. Downstairs you’ll find a sports court, mini bar, and home theater. Whether you’re inside or out, this home is beautiful to entertain and offer a warm welcome to its guests.
